60 Days Til Spring!!!!

Howdy Friends,

I hope yall are doing well this Beautiful Sunday Afternoon!

Im doing well- Allergies are getting to me due to the Weather Change here in Oklahoma.

However, I have been tryin to keep busy and prepare for the Spring in the Greenhouse.

I am so looking forward to Spring / Summer!!

60 Days until Spring

Yes, im counting down! :)

Then Feb 2nd is Groundhog Day~ I hope the groundhog does not see its shadow!

I do have a few mums, little trees and some seedlings growing in the greenhouse..

I have also started to try to grow Avocado plants out of Avocado seeds..

All you have to do in get a seed from an Avocado and poke a couple of holes in it- on the sides w/toothpicks and place in a mason jar or clear cup with water...barely touching the water and
once it has a few leaves and some growth you can then move to a pot w/soil...

I hope you have better luck then I have....

Here are some Gardening/Outdoor Décor. Books I have been reading lately to prepare for this year.

1. Better Homes and Gardens - Inside Out - It has tons of ideas for making the outside just as beautiful as the inside of a home.

2. Garden Anywhere by : Fowler - a Wonderful Book I Love! It also tell you how to grow an Avocado plant and how to compost and etc.. I recommend  you Read this one for sure!

3. Native American Gardening by: Wilson - Is a Great Read because it tells you how gardening was done back before we came along. Plus I Love History & Gardening .

Happy Gardening & Reading Yall!

Gardening is Cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes

Saw this quote on Pinterest and had to make it into a sign...lol

Makes me giggle~

I Love Gardening and have always been around a gardener( my grandmother) and a farmer (my grandfather)...and did some home landscaping to earn extra cash in high school besides babysitting! :)

When I married my Husband I had to learn how to grow plants on Oklahoma Red Clay and Land that had not been touched in years...

Gardening and Landscaping for 6+years now and all the labor is finally paying off! ;)

Things are Blooming Non-Stop now and its super exciting!

Huckleberry Plant

and some Sweet Basil I grew from seed in the Greenhouse. :)

My Daughter and I planted a couple a few weeks ago and those onions are coming out great!

I am soo Thankful for the Energy to move around in the Garden and Greenhouse...

I call it Garden Fitness! ;)

Here is a bit of Garden Journal info....

2-New Tomato Plants grown from seed are moved from shell to a actual pot.

1- New Green Pepper plant

Happy Gardening! :)

Pictures- pre planting

Soooo the the weather change here in Oklahoma really messed with the temp and etc in the
Green house....I lost about 11 plants total that included the greenhouse move as well... very upsetting because 3 of those were medium size Zucchini....

so this little zucchini plant brings me a lot of joy..aka my plan D....PLANT4!

Out of those 11 plants I lost 2 tomato plants...
this little tomato plant looks ready to be planted, I have not gotten there yet....

and some little lettuce in Mini pots- they are soo cute! :)

There was some new Growth on my Peas, they are now 3-5 inches tall

What I have Learned so far...

So Sunday we had some hail / tornado weather - Monday we had a wild little snow storm....

Insane 4 sure - so all this weather did not help my plants....so sad I lost close to 10 plants...

2 - zucchini

2- tomato

and etc.....

Made me sooooo  Sad!

2 much Heat (like past 95 degress) + no ventilation = Dead Plants

well not all of them will die...but don't be surprised when some do...

Transplanting

I cannot believe I have sooo many little baby plants I am running out of space....ahhh ...

TRANSPLANTING PLANTS- There is really nothing to it...Transplanting takes time, patience and lots of practice.....use towel paper rolls or even paper towel roll (cut into segments ) and then wrap with newspaper...Like making mini Paper Mache bowls..if the paper of cardboard is not bending to your will ...use a spray bottle to gently moisten paper -if you go spray bottle crazy....just let it dry a bit and come back to it... Do Not worry that they don't look perfect! Its ok- its going in the dirt!!! :) Good Luck!! http://instagram.com/p/mjws5TGoHB/    pic of my Lettuce, Spinach! ;)

Growth

Lots of Growth so far! http://instagram.com/p/mefvhNmoCi/

The Greenhouse has really been helpful - but if you got room in your kitchen by the window that would be perfect as well! Right now, I am growing Lavender and a couple of other house plants by my Kitchen window! :)

O- And Happy April Fools Day!

Saving Egg shells is not really as easy as it looks...you have to crack that egg just right that the top half breaks away fairly simply without droping little eggshells into your moring scramble...ugh no fun! Seedlings I have planted so far :

Yellow Pepper

Radish

Tomato

Zucchini

Spinach

Lettuce

Garden Bean

Carrot

Peas

Chives

Cucumber
